Leawood, Kan. – June 23, 2023: Both the House and the Senate passed Senate Bill 1018 (SB 1018). The bill also was signed into law by the Governor on June 7, 2023. The new law, which will be effective on October 1, 2023, increases the cash redemption amount for gift cards from less to $3 to less than $5 and deletes the requirement that the consumer present a proof-of-purchase receipt for the gift card when seeking to redeem the gift card for cash. 2023 CT S.B. 1018 § 1.
